"Tomie" is a classic character from the eponymous series by Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito. The series was first published in the horror manga magazines "Halloween" and "Nemuki" in 1987 and helped Ito win the prestigious Umezu Prize. The character has since been adapted into various movies, TV shows, and anime.

Tomie Kawakami, who looks like a high school student, has a bewitching and devilishly beautiful appearance with a mole under her left eye. Her beauty can drive men crazy and obsessive in order to get close to her. Once they are in a relationship with Tomie, they become consumed by intense jealousy, hatred, and an inexplicable urge to murder her and dismember her body. However, Tomie is actually an immortal demon, and a single piece of her flesh, a bloodstain, or even a single cell can regenerate into a whole new Tomie. Tomies often engage in violent conflicts and have been wreaking havoc on men and women alike for over a century. Tomie also poses a threat to women, as men driven mad by Tomie can harm others, and Tomie's cells can also infect other women, turning them into Tomies.
